DIY Glittered Wine Glasses

DIY Glittered Wine Glasses | How Lovely It Is

The other day I was sitting in my bath tub, and I had this idea to glitter wine glasses. I often get ideas in the tub, strange but true. So off to Michael’s I went. I found some copper glitter paint from the Martha Stewart line, made specifically for glass.  I also used the foam pouncers from her line. Then went to the dollar store for wine glasses.

I washed the glasses in hot soapy water to remove the dust etc. Then wiped down the outside of the glasses with rubbing alcohol per the directions on the paint.

I squeezed the paint out on to a paper plate. After dipping the pouncer in paint I used a dabbing motion to create a stipple effect on the glass. I left a 1 1/2″ gap between the paint and the lip edge just for comfort while drinking.

I used four coats of the paint, leaving a couple hours dying time in between. This particular paint is quite translucent, I wanted more of an opaque look.

The paint needs another 8 hours or so to completely dry and harden. Glasses are then top rack dishwasher safe.

I think they will make a nice addition to the Thanksgiving table!
